Martin Swarbrick

Senior Group Leader: Discovery Chemistry

Martin joined CRUK-TDL (then CRT-DL) in 2008 and now leads the Discovery Chemistry and DMPK function. Before joining the organisation, he spent nine years at GlaxoSmithKline where he led medicinal chemistry teams and discovery projects in the areas of pain and GI disorders. Martin has directly contributed to eight development candidate compounds and is co-author and co-inventor of more than thirty publications and patent applications. Martin was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2008. Prior to his career in drug discovery, he obtained a BSc and PhD in chemistry from the University of Sheffield, and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Montreal.
